• Can use search 'operators' for specific searching

Slack

• Chips can be used to allow a more specific search

• Universal search is too demanding on performance

• Include additional filters so if universal search doesn’t work then filters can be used to further specify requirements (of course, will have to balance the capabilities of filters with performance)

Hubspot

• Whole page becomes search area with sections to see some items and then a ‘see more’ to view all items in specific section

Marketo

• Whole page becomes search area with table list and filters on the right

Jira

• Dropdown initially, but whole page search available with more options such as filters and advanced Jira search language

Trello

• Dropdown initially, but whole page search available

• Dropdown, then full page with more search options appear when clicking ‘enter’

• Dropdown to begin with as it only requires a single click, then if whole page search is also being implemented, make sure to include an indicator that this feature is availableless intrusive and is not going to evolve the intended filtering changed into a massive piece of work

• Dependant on how much we want to push the capability of searching, a ‘whole page' search could be required to aid in platform performance

Ordering

Hubspot

• Sections seem to be in importance order

• Items within sections are seemingly random, so could be order from API listing?

Marketo

• No idea what the order rules are…

Jira

• Most recently viewed first and then ordered by ‘updated’ date/time

Trello

• Probably ordered by last modified date

Slack

• No idea what the order rules are…

• Have some sort of order that is clearly specified somewhere

• Allow the changing of order, e.g. alphabetical or created date
